In February this year, hundreds flocked to Green Point in the Mother City for the annual Cape Town Pride event. Organisers have already announced that the colourful LGBTQI event will be returning in March 2023 under new leadership. Wentzel April has been appointed to head up the event.

CAPE TOWN PRIDE IS SET TO RETURN IN 2023! Following a successful event earlier this year, Cape Town Pride is set to return in March 2023 at the Green Point Track. The event featured a large stage with performances from local and international artists.
There were several events leading up to the main pride event including two hikes, a pride roller disco, the Pride Hero's Awards and Mr and Miss Cape Town Pride.

IOL reports that the 2023 event will be officially launched at the Belgium Embassy on 26 November. The launch will feature live performances, bars and stalls.

WENTZEL APRIL APPOINTED CAPE TOWN PRIDE DIRECTOR As per IOL, Matthew van As has stepped down as the festival director. He has been replaced by Wentzel April who is an Impulse Group Cape Town committee member, a group that promotes a healthier sexual lifestyle.
I am excited to bring a new vision to Cape Town Pride. A pride that continues to strive for inclusivity, visibility, acceptance, diversity and respect, said April.

The task ahead is not an easy road but I have amazing support from both the working committee of Cape Town Pride and that of our beautiful community.
EVERYTHING TO KNOW SO FAR The event will officially take place on 4 March 2023 at the Green Point Track. The Pride March will kick off at 12:00 and the Mardi Gras festival will take place from 13:00.
