Bridge Technologies is bringing two important new digital media monitoring technologies to TVConnect 2015 (Stand 101).
Gold TS Reference is a new technology that dramatically simplifies the setup of monitoring for digital services and provides unprecedented accuracy and security in fault-tracking. Developed exclusively by Bridge Technologies, Gold TS Reference includes all the checks specified in the ETR290 standard but goes much further by including tests for critical conditions missed by ETR290, such as errors in the conditional access system, failures of the program guide, unintended language changes, and more.
Gold TS Reference brings simplicity to the complex task of calibrating the monitoring of each stream by allowing users to take a snapshot of a correctly functioning stream, which includes all the services correct values and settings. This forms a reference against which performance is subsequently compared in real time, and all deviations from the values in the reference are automatically detected and presented in an readily understandable display.
Operator attention is drawn immediately to any divergence, even if the error may otherwise be legal within the parameters of the ETR290 standard for testing digital media streams. Conditions such as time differences in the program guide or a change of language would not be detected and flagged as faults by conventional ETR290 checks, even though they have significant impact on the subscriber.
Gold TS Reference is a reinvention of the way digital media monitoring is done, said Simen Frostad, chairman of Bridge Technologies. Its taken a lot of original thinking and years of R&D to create, and we think its a profound change for the future of digital media monitoring, because its a far more reliable method for protecting the quality of digital media services for the real world that operators compete in.
Bridge Technologies will also unveil an important new development to its PocketProbe OTT monitoring technology at TVConnect. PocketProbe data is now fully integrated into the Bridge Technologies VBC controller-server, giving system-wide correlation of OTT monitoring data from mobile viewing devices side-by-side with all the data from ingest points, headends, origin servers and other monitoring nodes in the delivery chain. The data from PocketProbe can be used to view the status of OTT services alongside other streams in Bridgetechs VB288 customisable virtual video wall, or on any display driven by the VBC, to create an enterprise-wide performance and diagnostic environment.
