Leading visual effects software developers, Boris FX / Imagineer Systems, will be showcasing the newest version of Academy award-winning planar tracking software, mocha Pro 5, at SIGGRAPH (booth 426) on July 26-28, 2016 in Anaheim, California. The recently released mocha Pro 5 is a major new update adding GPU-accelerated planar tracking for speed increases and the ability to run as a plug-in within host applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC, Avid Media Composer and now NUKE from The Foundry. Additionally, the Boris / Imagineer team will showcase a new co-developed technology preview of 360 enabled virtual reality tools created to assist the emerging cinematic VR filmmaking market.
The new mocha Pro 5 release has been getting rave reviews from our user base of professional VFX artists, says Ross Shain, CMO of Boris FX and Imagineer Systems. We've updated the mocha planar tracking algorithm to take advantage of OpenCL video processing and the resulting speed increases on 4K resolution projects has been tremendous. Shain continues, mocha's tracking power has long been recognized as an essential tool in the visual effects workflow for feature films and the new plug-in workflow simply makes the tools even more accessible for speed and project management. At Siggraph 2016, we are also excited to share a sneak peek of a development-in-progress; new tools designed to address the problematic areas of 360/VR post-production.

mocha Pro 5
mocha Pro is the popular motion tracking and visual effects tool used on thousands of feature films and television shows, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, and many more. The new mocha Pro 5 release adds major updates including: GPU-accelerated planar tracking for speed increases, the ability to launch as a plug-in directly from host timelines including Avid Media Composer, Adobe After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC, and NUKE (coming soon); new Python scripting support, improved online licensing mechanism; new export formats and more.
360/ VR Tools
A special technology preview will feature mocha VR, upcoming new features designed for cinematic VR filmmakers to process, track and fix problematic 360 footage. mocha VR will complement Adobe & Nuke workflows for 360 tasks such as removing camera rigs, nadir patching, stabilizing camera jitters and much more.
