MONTREAL, June 10, 2021 - Grass Valley announces that Norways biggest commercial broadcaster, TV 2 Norway, has chosen the Kaleido-IP Video Multiviewer as part of its migration to open standards-based IP workflows. TV 2 provides a range of programming including news, sports, entertainment, childrens programming, TV series, movies, and magazine shows. It is extending a longstanding partnership with Grass Valley so that it can handle more high quality content across multiple platforms to meet growing demand from its audience.
IP solutions that enable effortless remote productions are essential to our company and thats why weve relied on Grass Valleys multiviewers for years. The Kaleido-IP fits seamlessly into our SMPTE ST2110-based infrastructure and can handle a wide variety of content requirements from 4K UHD and HD to SD, said Svein Henning Skaga, solutions architect at TV 2 Norway. We rely on flexible workflows to enable easy customization for each production type, including news, sports and other master control room operations, and the Kaleido IP is the perfect solution for this.
Kaleido-IP provides TV 2 with an easy transition from its current SMPTE ST2022-6 to the latest SMPTE ST2110 IP capability. The new deployment will give the broadcaster access to high density inputs, simultaneous video and audio program decodes and ultra-low latency processing.
As our customers increasingly deliver content across a diverse range of platforms and devices, they need the ability to handle more high bandwidth video in multiple formats and resolutions, said Tim Banks, vice president sales, EMEA, Grass Valley. This latest IP breakthrough extends our longstanding partnership with TV 2 and we look forward to continuing to work closely to align our future-proof solutions to meet their immediate requirements and longer-term goals.
With its user-friendly layout creation and editor, Kaleido IP supports a wide range of codecs, as well as uncompressed video and audio for monitoring any IP source. All video streams can be displayed through this solution, multiple times, at different resolutions and sizes up to full screen on the multiviewer outputs, creating reliable and high-quality MCR operations.
The project is due to go live by Q4 2021 and the sale was via GVs regional channel partner, Mediability.
