aira HD Debuts Surround Sound Experience to ai TV Viewers on DVB-T with Dolby Digital Plus

Thailand, April 15, 2014-Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) announced today that Thairath HD will be broadcast in Dolby Digital Plus , bringing surround sound experiences to viewers of the HD service. Thairath, the newspaper with the highest circulation in Thailand, expanded its publishing business to online media and most recently to Thairath TV. Thairath TV is the first terrestrial broadcaster in Thailand to deliver cinema-inspired surround sound to TV viewers with Dolby Digital Plus. The HD service will begin to air on April 24, 2014.

Dolby Digital Plus unlocks the full potential of HD broadcast with high-definition audio and ensures that consumers hear audio as it was intended. Dolby Digital Plus has quickly become one of the leading broadcast audio formats for HDTV services in several parts of the world, including Singapore, Indonesia, China, India, Europe, and the Middle East.

Thailand is also one of the first countries in South East Asia to broadcast on free-to-air DVB -T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Second Generation Terrestrial), a major broadcast standard for digital terrestrial television transmission. Currently, TV broadcast over DVB-T2 is on air in the United Kingdom, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Indonesia, Singapore, and several other countries.
