The fusion of fashion and technology has become a new form of SMT business layout in recent years. The once professional and rigorous technical people have entered into the fashion circle. Appearing at one after another international luxury brand conferences, step by step to subvert people's stereotypes of technical people, SMT is not only aspiring to become the darling of the fashion circle, but to build its own brand value. The brand-new attempt is an exploration and development of new ecological business areas.
As one of the most valuable IPs in the fashion industry, Victorias Secret Fashion Show has entered the audience's field of vision since 1995. It costs more than 10 million U.S. dollars and broadcasts in more than 190 countries around the world, with an audience of more than 1 billion.
As one of the most influential media technology service providers in China, Shanghai Media Tech provided Victorias Secret Show with full-process broadcast technology solutions in 2017. Sent UHD6 (now renamed S1) 4K Ultra HD OB VAN with dual production areas. The first production area is mainly responsible for the production part. The chief director, director, etc. can have a completely quiet environment to complete on-site artistic creation, and the second production area is responsible on-site video recording and technical support which can coordinate and monitor on-site technical equipment in real time.
In order to match the wide application of ARRI professional movie cameras in the Victorias Secret Show, the SONY HDC-4300 cameras on UHD6 were equipped with lens filters and format conversion settings for the video to ensure the unity of picture and image quality.
In order to ensure the consistency of all images, the dimming of Victorias Secret Show uses GPI trigger mode. In addition to professional film cameras, the application of special equipment such as robocams also added to the show.
Full-file recording, online editing and real-time distribution, 24 broadcasting channels, real-time recording of more than 20 versions of PGM signals, 6 x-fire DVRs, 6 AJA HD DVRs, 6 Blackmagic DVRs, 3 12-channel EVS Slow-motion hard disk video recorders, behind the massive video and audio signals, also need complete online editing and real-time distribution.
At 18:30 pm on August 6, 2020, Shanghai, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021 menswear collection opened as scheduled. Art director Virgil Abloh brought his fifth show with an innocent perspective. This is the first time in the history of Louis Vuitton menswear that the show has moved to a place outside of Paris. The first stop was Shanghai, and Shanghai Media Tech (SMT) was chosen to tell the story.
SMT provided the signals in three formats of 4K horizontal, 2K horizontal and 2K vertical screens for the Louis Vuitton show, and offered multiple formats such as satellite and network streaming for domestic and foreign distribution that helped to promote global sharing of this Louis Vuitton show. Meanwhile, the show has brought a live broadcast with richer viewing channels and a more intimate viewing experience for global audiences which helped the Louis Vuitton show become a global hot topic.
At the same time, for the characteristics of the show, especially the most exciting 30 minutes, which happened to be the process of the sky changing from light to dark, The SMT PQC color grading team adjusted the differences among the 4K camera feed, the 4K feed of the wireless camera, and the 2K feed in the show, and used the professional color grading system which usually adopted for post-production at the final broadcasting end.
The Herm s Fall/Winter 2021 Womens Show held at the Herm s House in Shanghai on March 6, and presented in conjunction with the New York Park Avenue Armory and the Paris Republic Guard. Relying on the mature technology and rich practical experience in remote production, SMT has joined hands with Creative Technology to undertake the signal transmission business of the Shanghai station of the Hermes event.
The live multi-channel signals were transmitted to the production center in Paris to complete the final packaging and distribution. In order to ensure this transmission, SMT used two sets of Haivision Makito X4 codec, the main and backup Haivision Makito X4 codecs, using h,265 encoding and SRT protocol transmission to ensure the quality of the picture while also ensuring the smoothness and stability of the picture. Considering the high latency and instability of cross-nation networks, in the existing public network environment, virtual private network technology was applied to further reduce the delay of picture transmission, while the stability was enhanced.
From traditional sports events to new e-sports competition, then to fashion conferences, from traditional broadcast technology to remote production, SMTs business types are constantly enriched, and the technical methods are becoming more and more diversified. Behind every brave attempt is the innovative spirit and rigorous attitude of each SMT technician.
