La estadounidense NBC, a trav s de su emisora afiliada de Colorado Springs (EE.UU.) realiz su primera emisi n por streaming HD en vivo con la tecnolog a que ofrecen las c mara GY-HM650 de JVC, para proporcionar cobertura de las mortales inundaciones que tuvieron lugar a principios de septiembre en Colorado (EE.UU.).
Las c maras se utilizaron junto con los m dems Jetpack Verizon LTE Mobile Hotspot para transmitir im genes HD en vivo de aquellos lugares que eran inaccesibles incluso para las unidades m viles ligeras tradicionales.
Para la mayor a de tomas en vivo, la NBC emple sus c maras h bridas GY-HM790 equipadas con un m dulo ASI KA-AS790G que estaba conectado directamente a un enlace de microondas. Sin embargo, muchas de las zonas afectadas por las inundaciones no proporcionaban la l nea de visi n directa que precisaba este tipo de enlaces, por lo que no pudieron utilizarse as . Las furgonetas de enlaces satelitales pod an operar con dificultades, pero el aumento de las inundaciones y los caminos fangosos hicieron impracticable el trabajo de muchos equipos.
Seg n Quentin Henry, ingeniero jefe de la NBC en Colorado, se decidi utilizar la funcionalidad de streaming en vivo de la GY-HM650 para poder cubrir estas zonas inundadas a las que no se pod a acceder con las unidades m viles. La emisora s lo hab a completado dos d as de pruebas con un decodificador Teradek, que hab a sido instalado recientemente.
Los reporteros tomaron las c maras GY-HM650 y se metieron en los ca ones y otras reas dif ciles de acceder, para documentar c mo las crecidas afectaban la zona. Henry dijo que la grabaci n 720p de la GY-HM650 era una de las im genes de mayor calidad que tuvimos en el aire durante las inundaciones de Colorado; los enlaces de sat lite en banda Ku de la NBC fallaban debido a las duras condiciones atmosf ricas.
El c dec dual de la c mara permiti a la NBC grabar todos sus contenidos en una tarjeta SDHC a resoluci n de 1080p en sus tomas en vivo. Los periodistas fueron capaces de editar el material en paquetes en la emisora, sin necesidad de buscar una copia de la emisi n. La emisora local trabaj con editores Harris Velocity, que emplearon directamente ficheros nativos MP4 grabados por las GY-HM650, que se pueden insertar directamente en la l nea de tiempo de edici n y sin transcodificaci n.
La emisora NBC en Colorado ha estado transmitiendo en HD desde el a o 2010 y ha venido empleando un flujo de trabajo sin cintas con c maras Panasonic P2 durante m s de cinco a os; no obstante la estaci n comenz recientemente a utilizar c maras JVC ProHD en sus salas.
Los equipos JVC se nos aparecieron como un sistema s lido y de alta calidad, con un nivel de servicio igual, si no por encima de los dem s. No s lo fue el apoyo que recibimos de JVC en el apartado de la transmisi n HD en vivo, sino su soluci n basada en tarjetas de memoria SDHC no propietarios y de bajo costo, lo que al final nos hizo decidir , explic Henry.
