Netflix is synonymous with binge-watching and chilling.

But what were the most streams of 2022?

MOST STREAMED SHOWS ON NETFLIX Although the streaming service had quite the year thanks to declining subscribers and password sharing, it was a good year for viewers as several of Netflix's original series topped Nielsen's 2022 streaming chart in the US, Glamour UK reports.

Nielsen's streaming chart keeps track of US viewer preferences throughout the year.

Everyone's favourite science-fiction show, Stranger Things, took the lead as Netflix's most streamed show of 2022. Viewers spent 52 billion minutes watching the series, which released its highly anticipated fourth season.

Fans couldn't get enough of the spooky series Wednesday and spent 18.6 billion minutes on its debut season.

Other top titles that racked up viewers include Bridgerton, The Crown, Cobra Kai, Virgin River, Love Is Blind, and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

OTHER MUCH-LOVED TITLES Apart from Netflix's content, other non-streaming series kept viewers entertained. CBS's popular crime series NCIS with its 356 episodes, was watched 38.1 billion minutes on Netflix, Glamour UK reports.

Other binge-worthy favourites like Grey's Anatomy scored 26.8 billion minutes, while Criminal Minds got watched a total of 24.9 billion minutes.

The kids also got some screen time with Moonbug Entertainment's popular kids' program Cocomelon viewed a total of 37.8 billion minutes, and Bluey 21.1 billion.

Disney's Oscar-winning animated Encanto was the only movie to crack the most-streamed titles of the year list with 27.4 billion minutes. It made its Disney debut in December 2012, getting double as many viewers as Pixar's Turning Red (also on Disney ) and Universal's Sing 2 on Netflix.

Nielsen's ratings only cover US viewing on TV sets-no laptops or mobile devices. Still, Americans streamed more than 19.4 million years of content in 2022, a 27% increase from 2021's paltry 15 million years. That's a lot of time in the Upside Down, Glamour UK reports.
