Amazon.com Wine Store Introduces Shipping to New York, Michigan, Arizona and Louisiana
Amazon adds delivery of wine shipped directly from wineries to four states
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2013-- Just in time for the holiday season, Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced that customers can now place orders on Amazon Wine (www.amazonwine.com) for delivery in New York, Michigan, Arizona and Louisiana. Amazon Wine offers vast wine-country selection with delivery available to 20 states and the District of Columbia, adding eight states since launch last year. With the addition of the four new states, customers can purchase directly from more than 700 wine sellers offering over 5,000 labels available on Amazon Wine.
The holiday season is a busy time, and it's a huge time saver for millions of customers to have access to thousands of high-quality wines while they're shopping for that special gift on Amazon. We're excited for our customers to be able to browse our vast selection of boutique and prestigious labels through the Amazon Wine store, said Peter Faricy, vice president for Amazon Marketplace. Our customers tell us they enjoy our wine-country selection and the convenience of finding detailed information in one place. We want to connect customers with wine sellers around the country and provide a destination where they can learn about and purchase wines directly from great wineries on Amazon.
New this holiday season, Amazon Wine is featuring limited production wines, deals on mixed packs and the opportunity for customers to get holiday wine questions answered directly by wine sellers on Amazon. Customers will be able to purchase labels with limited availability and small production wines from Napa, including HALL Wines' signature 2010 Kathryn Hall Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Raymond Vineyards' Generations and Bell Wine Cellars' 2009 Clone 6. Amazon Wine has added more than 1,000 international wines, including labels from France, Italy, Australia and other top regions around the world. For a limited time, customers can also save 20 percent or more on over 100 mixed packs that include an assortment of varietals from select wineries. Customers with questions on picking out that perfect wine can ask wineries questions through a new interactive Q&A forum on Amazon Wine product detail pages.
Customers can now browse selection from wineries located in Arizona, California, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Amazon Wine offers a wide variety of wines from well-known brands to enthusiast favorites. Customers can learn about wine by hearing directly from the winemaker through wine tasting notes, vineyard details, and wine pairing suggestions. Amazon Wine offers simple filters to sort by type, such as red wine, white wine, ros wine, sparkling wine and dessert wine.
For a small business, online sales can be daunting. Amazon.com offers us a simple and efficient way to connect to new and existing customers that are not within our local reach, said David Bova, general manager for Millbrook Vineyards and Winery, located in New York. This access allows us to connect to customers that are not only geographically separate from us but also offers us a different type of customer that as a winery, can be difficult to reach.
While we're already selling online through our own website, most of our existing customers are from the local tri-state region. By teaming up with Amazon.com, we will be able to reach new customers who may never find us without discovering our labels in the Amazon Wine store, said Chris Lopez, manager at Black Star Farms, located in Suttons Bay, Michigan. Amazon is an exciting sales channel for us to increase brand awareness and gain customer exposure. Today, direct-to-consumer shipping from wineries is available to addresses in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia.
