The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission (KZNFC) has once again partnered with the KwaMashu African Film Festival (KAFF) 2015, which runs at the KwaMashu Multi Arts Centre from 4 to 13 December.
This partnership is aligned to KZNFC s mission to promote the province s film industry through increasing the participation of previously disadvantaged communities, especially those involving women and youth. Audience development is key in the advancing of the industry which is why the opportunity to take film to the people is of great importance to the organisation. KZNFC will host a number of industry workshops and will also use the opportunity to talk about its funding policy.
KAFF hosts screenings of local and international films. Tell Me Sweet Something, which stars KwaMashu born Nomzamo Mbatha, opened the festival this year.
The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission is a provincial state entity, under the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal South Africa established in 2010 under the KwaZulu-Natal Commission Act, 2010 ( Act No 3 of 2010). Its mandate is to facilitate support throughout the value chain to the local and international film industry through creating opportunities and also growing the KwaZulu-Natal film industry.
