Learn how to capture better live sound
Brush up on your live recording techniques with SOS at PLASA!
If you've ever wondered how you could make better live recordings, an event at the PLASA Show (September 15th 17th at Olympia in London) could have the answers you're looking for. The Stage To Studio: Recording A Live Band' seminar, staged jointly with Sound On Sound and Headliner magazines, will demonstrate techniques and tricks for capturing high-quality sound from a band performance on stage in front of a live audience, and making the most of the live multitrack recordings when mixing.
The seminar will be hosted by a renowned live sound and recording engineer from Miloco Studios, who will explain his microphone choices and placements and his subsequent mix decisions with a running commentary to the audience, and his DAW, displayed on a screen above the stage during the mix process, will offer a unique insight into the decision making processes involved in crafting a successful live recording.
After the show, the audio files will be made available for you to create your own mixes, and you'll also be able to enter them into a competition, with the best mix winning a superb prize (more details will follow nearer the show).
The live recording stage will also host Tony Moore Presents', a showcase of talented acts performing a live acoustic set every hour on Sunday and Monday - a great opportunity to grab a drink at the adjacent PLASA bar end enjoy some music!
PLASA also offers many free-to-attend, expert-led seminars, talks and panels, as well as practical workshops and immersive demos, and you can check out new products from the many exhibitors at the UK's flagship show for live entertainment technology.
Entry to the PLASA show is free, requiring only advance registration at the link below to gain access to the live recording seminar and the show's exhibits. The seminar takes place at 3pm on Sunday 15th and Monday 16th.
