Talented actress Connie Chiume, who plays the role of MamSonto in Gomora and more stars from the show revealed to City Press that they don't know when the show is being cancelled.

ACTORS DON'T KNOW WHY SHOW IS CANCELLED The Mzansi Magic telenovela Gomora, which is DStv's most-watched show will wrap up shooting in July and air its last episode in October 2023.

Leaving was not my decision. The show is wrapping up; the broadcaster decided to wrap up the show. We don't know why; Gomora has been number one on the charts, it has been number one since the beginning. My character and other characters will be cut before the show ends, that is how they wrote the script, says Chiume.

Award-winning actress Sannah Mchunu, who plays fan-favourite character Zodwa, told City Press that she visited taverns in Alexandra to observe the behaviour of patrons.

My character wasn't supposed to be there for a long time, she was meant to make people understand that Teddy lived with Gladys [played by Thembi Seete] because his mother was an irresponsible drunkard.

Mchunu adds that she wanted to make an impact and stay longer by going to Alex to check how Zodwas' live on a daily basis so that she could add her own spice to the script, and that's where she got Zodwa's broken English.

MZANSI MAGIC ANNOUNCES END OF GOMORA' Mzansi Magic announced in April that their most watched telenovela Gomora, would end with season four.

News24 reported that Gomora will air its final season to conclude its storylines with Gomora season 4 on 20 October 2023.

Gomora is a story about inequality. It's about the rich and the poor and how fine the line between the two can be. It follows the lives of two families and how their worlds collide.

M-Net said: maintains a fruitful working relationship with Seriti Films, the production house behind Gomora.
