En M xico, el cantante y compositor Ed Maverick ofrece el ejemplo perfecto, ya que en menos de un a o el guitarrista de 18 a os, cuyo nombre real es Eduardo Saucedo, ha pasado de tener 5,000 streams en Spotify a m s de 450,000 diarios. Su lbum de bedroom-pop ac stico titulado mix pa llorar en tu cuarto y su canci n Fuentes de Ortiz , han aparecido en varias playlists de Latinoam rica.
Fuentes de Ortiz aterriz primero en Mexico Viral 50 y, desde all , la canci n obtuvo un lugar en la playlist Distrito Indie de Spotify antes de llegar a las listas de reproducci n de La + Chingona y xitos M xico. Esta semana su sencillo Fuentes de Ortiz entr con fuerza al Top 50 de M xico.
T picamente compuesta con poco m s que una guitarra, cada canci n del mix pa llorar en tu cuarto es un crudo retrato de la incertidumbre y la inseguridad del amor joven. Escuchar sus canciones dan la sensaci n de leer el diario de alguien, resulta imposible evitar identificarse con sus vulnerables y desgarradores tracks. En un sonoro bar tono, Saucedo expresa sus sentimientos a trav s de letras sencillas y accesibles que se mezclan en el lenguaje cotidiano, reflejando c mo los j venes mexicanos hablan realmente.
Karpe Diem , una de las primeras canciones que escribi , describe su experiencia al superar un amor. Al discutir la canci n con For The Record, Saucedo dijo que probablemente sea la canci n m s cercana a su coraz n, ya que representa el comienzo de su transici n de problemas de ni os a problemas de adultos. De hecho, muchas de sus canciones provienen de sus propias experiencias, particularmente con ex novias, aunque evade vincularlas a un momento espec fico.
Saucedo, quien naci en Chihuahua, no creci en una familia de m sicos, sino que aprendi a tocar la guitarra viendo videos y tocando norte o, g nero musical popular en su tierra. Su estilo evolucion mientras tocaba covers de canciones de sus bandas favoritas, como las de los rockeros indie mexicanos Little Jesus. Pero ninguno de los estilos de m sica se ajustaba a lo que quer a hacer, as que decidi lanzarse por su cuenta y, finalmente, comenz a componer sus propias canciones. Sent la necesidad de liberar lo que estaba pasando en mi mente , dijo.
Y quiz s ste es el secreto de la f cil intimidad de sus letras: trabaja siguiendo su intuici n y se deja llevar, en lugar de forzar las cosas. Incluso cuando Saucedo comienza a escribir una canci n, le gusta ver c mo se siente, ya sea bueno o malo, y ver lo que llega . Finalmente, lo que espera es que la gente que escucha sus canciones pueda al menos sentir algo . Y tal vez se den cuenta de que no son los nicos pasando por la dificultad de ser adolescentes. Es por eso que hago m sica, de verdad , dijo.
Saucedo se mud recientemente a la Ciudad de M xico, donde su hermana act a como su manager. Navega por su repentino ascenso a la fama, asegur ndose de mantener contacto con sus amigos, as como con sus fans, muchos de los cuales son de su edad o m s j venes. En abril realiz una firma de aut grafos en el sur de la ciudad, en donde se concentran muchos estudiantes universitarios. Cuando lleg , m s de 1.000 personas lo esperaban, algunos de ellos hab an estado all desde las 8 de la ma ana. Afortunadamente, estos se mostraron con mucho nimo mientras se presentaba ante la multitud y cantaron junto con l. Despu s, firm todo, desde copias de su lbum hasta zapatos y un ukelele.
En este momento, sus influencias incluyen a otro cantante de rock indie mexicano, Dromedarios M gicos, que tambi n proviene de Chihuahua. Le gusta escuchar a bandas como King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, The Walters y Se or Kino. Y como continuaci n de su lbum, lanz Ropa de Bazaar con Jenny Ju rez de Bratty, una canci n ac stica con un tinte folcl rico sobre una pareja de j venes que escapan juntos. V monos de aqu , cantan los dos mientras Saucedo toca la guitarra. Vamos a dejar nuestra ciudad, comprarnos ropa de bazar. No importa todo lo dem s .
Si bien en alg n momento pens convertirse en dise ador gr fico, en este momento Saucedo est feliz de continuar su carrera musical. No tiene un r cord espec fico en mente, pero para un futuro cercano, le gustar a ir a alg n lugar muy lejos , componer durante unos meses y producir algo diferente a su primer lbum, tanto l rico como musicalmente, simplemente a n no sabe exactamente qu .
