Genelec introduce the 9402A System Management Device

SAM monitoring line-up gains Dante and AES67 support

The latest expansion of Genelec's UNIO monitoring ecosystem introduces a new device that provides Dante and AES67 compatibility for the company's Smart Active Monitor line-up. The new 9402A System Management Device joins the 9401A - which already offers Ravenna, ST2110 and AES67 connectivity for the SAM range - deepening the company's commitment to networked audio and offering powerful system management for everything from stereo to 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos rigs.

Designed as a bridge between traditional AES/EBU signal paths and fully networked AoIP infrastructures, the 9402A supports up to 16 channels of digital audio via a DB25 connector - it supports sample rates up to 192 kHz and bit depths up to 32-bit - while additional AES/EBU outputs are provided on XLR connectors, offering a dedicated feed for subwoofer integration and additional stereo monitoring. The 9402A provides flexible routing and monitoring for both loudspeakers and headphones, and allows users to switch seamlessly between the two without interruption.

Thanks to tight integration with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, the 9402A is capable of handling entire system calibrations, including subwoofer alignment and bass management. The subwoofer output enables Smart Active Subwoofers to be easily chained to increase the low frequency SPL output, and the system's channel capacity can be expanded by pairing multiple 9402A devices, allowing for compatibility with 22.2 and other high-channel-count immersive formats.

As studios, broadcast facilities and live venues move rapidly towards reliable, high-quality IP-based audio signal flows, there is a clear need for precision reference monitoring that can integrate seamlessly into these environments.
