Three Spanish projects will participate in Cartoon Movie 2017 Among the 55 selected projects selected by the Organization of this event created to promote the production and distribution of European animation are three Spanish productions: Bu uel in the labyrinth of the turtles, Awakening Beauty and Unicorn Wars.

Three Spanish projects are presented for the first time internationally in Cartoon Movie, the European Forum of co-production of feature films of animation which celebrated its 19th Edition from 8 to 10 March, in the French city of Bordeaux.

The projects, which are in various stages of production, will be presented to about 800 professionals, which include potential co-producers and investors, distributors, exhibitors, broadcasters and platforms of video on demand in Europe.

Spanish animation

One of the three selected projects is Bu uel in the labyrinth of the turtles, adaptation of the graphic novel by Ferm n Sol s directed by Salva Simo and produced by Sygnatia and Glow with the participation of RTVE. The film, which is in development and has scheduled its premiere to 2018, revolves around the filming of the documentary film Las Hurdes of the famous Spanish film director.

Another of the projects selected is Awakening Beauty the director Manuel H. Mart n with production of Andalusian style Clapperboard PC. With this 2D animation film its makers seek to raise awareness about violence against women.

Finally, will be also in Cartoon Movie Unicorn Wars, the second feature film by Alberto V zquez, one of the creators of Psychonauts, the forgotten children, and produced by Uniko in co-production with French Autour de Minuit and Schmuby Productions and the Spanish Abano Productions.

In addition to these projects, the Spanish animation is represented in Bordeaux by a delegation of video game developer formed by Delirium Studios, Drakhat Studio, Torres Lab and 3D that participate in Cartoon Games & Apps, parallel activity to Cartoon Movie organized with the objective of creating synergies between the industries of the animation and video games.

With an overall budget of 303,5 million euros, 55 projects presented in Cartoon Movie 2017 added 76 hours of animation. France leads the event with 17 projects followed by Germany and Belgium, with five each.
