The River viewers have been praising last night's (4 October) episode, which saw Emma Dlamini becoming the victim of a sexual assault at the hands of a man she trusted.

While a lot of viewers agreed that the rape scene was painful to watch, many stated that the scene triggered painful memories they thought they'd buried.

Tonight's episode of #TheRiver1Magic was such a trigger, not because I've ever experienced that personally but it was the realization that that could be my reality as a female in SA, and that is what triggered me and left my heart sitting in my throat

THE RAPE ORDEAL Emma (Lunathi Mampofu) was about to sign a deal of a lifetime with a potential investor (Zithulele) who she was introduced to by her mother-in-law Lindiwe Dikana.

Viewers saw her presenting her business to Zithulele (Makhaola Ndebele) who seemed impressed with her beauty product and was willing to invest in her business idea.

The pair headed to his office to sign the agreement when a powerless Emma was then thrown onto his desk and was raped.

What angered viewers even more, was that after he left her crying in his office and bragged he was on his way to his wife.

DID LINDIWE SET IT UP? Some fans are now wondering if Lindiwe arranged the sexual assault as the pair have never gotten along.

Lindiwe (Sindi Dlathu) was the one who arranged for Emma to meet Zithulele and she was friendlier than usual towards her.

Emma's husband Zolani (Lawrence Maleka) had a terrible feeling about Zithulele when he met him but Lindiwe assured him that he's a good man.

The TVSA October teasers suggest that Emma won't reveal what happened to her to Zolani or Lindiwe as she prefers to deal with it on her own.

Zolani is going to kill somebody. Lindiwe is going to kill somebody.
