Si's 50th marathon and Guinness World record attempt

Big shout out for our Managing Director Simon Couchman who is running his 50th and final marathon ahead of his 50th birthday in fancy dress!

Simon hopes to achieve his third Guinness World Record on Sunday April 27th by running in a medal' costume in the London Marathon.

And this wouldn't be his first Guinness World Record title!

In 2017, he claimed the Guinness World Record title for running as the fastest crustacean', dressed as a lobster called Bob, based on his first Bob the lobster' costume when he ran his first ever marathon back in 2004. Simon has also run the London Marathon as an astronaut or asthmanaut' in 2014, again claiming the Guinness World Record (since beaten).

Naturally, Sunday's run isn't all about medals. Simon is running to raise money for Asthma Lung UK, an organisation close to his heart.

He said: I have had asthma since I was a child. I have learned to manage my asthma over the years but as a child I couldn't even walk up the stairs and missed most of PE at school. I know how much asthma affects everyday life but it isn't the barrier to achieving your dreams as I was once told.

I will be running the London Marathon one last time as my 50th and final marathon before I turn 50 in August.

His wife Jennifer, a wedding dress designer herself, has made the medal costume, which had to meet specific regulations for a Guinness World Record attempt, including a full length, rigid body.

Simon's runs have taken him all over Europe, cheered on by his wife Jennifer, and their daughter, Genevieve. Sometimes they even took part in the smaller races, and fun funs, making it a family affair.

Simon is not the only runner at ICG putting their best foot forward.

Our designer, Sam Sharples, is taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race on Saturday 26th April.

Sam will be running the The Marathon with Mountains' a distance of an incredible 23 miles.
