Kino Flo Builds Wall (of light)

Shortly after its founding year, Kino Flo introduced the Wall-O-Lite, the motion picture industrys leading BFL (big fluorescent light) for two decades. Now, 30 years later, Kino Flo Lighting Systems celebrates its anniversary with the new Celeb LED 850, a wall of light for the 21st century.

Versatile enough to hand-hold for walking shots, rig from a Matthews offset arm, or center mount on a light stand for 360 degrees of rotation, Celeb 850s work in close to the talent with a beauty light intimacy made for the big screen. The wide 4x2 aspect ratio fixture wraps a subject in a spectrum from fulsome reds of warm tungsten quality soft light, through a range of mid tones to full sky blue daylight.

The Sky Is Not the Limit

Celeb 850 fixtures, like all Celeb LEDs, supply more than the standard bi-color phasing. The big, hi-lumen soft sources display a full range of white light from 2500K to 9900K correlated color temperature, plus full Green/Magenta correction, Cinema Gel Color presets, Hue/Saturation selection, and dial-in RGB. Onboard solid state electronics give lighting professionals the freedom to operate fixtures remotely via wireless DMX light control boards and Apps, up to 200 yards (185m) away, or through standard DMX connections.

Kino Flos 30 years of producing soft light for professional film and HD production has not changed as weve added new lines of LEDs like the Celeb 850 to our legacy fixtures, said Frieder Hochheim, president and founder of Kino Flo Lighting Systems. No Fins. No Fans.

After five years of continuous operation on feature film and television episodic production sets, and in TV news broadcast studios, every Celeb batch has remained true to its color rendering and lumen specifications. The passive-cooled fixtures do not overheat the LEDs, so--no heat-sink fins or whirling fans.

Celeb technology achieves bright, soft glamour lighting with continuous dimming to point two percent (.2%) on a linear or square curve, without flicker at high camera speeds or at varied shutter angles. There is no light level change when shifting from 2500K to 9900K, and color doesnt shift when light levels rise or fall.

Intuitive Design

The onboard controllers interface makes it easy to bridge the gap between what a user knows and doesnt know about operating the Celeb 850. Kino Flos unique push-button and scrolling system makes it intuitive for users to navigate the menu of choices, including Dimming, Kelvin, Green/Magenta, Hue/Saturation, and RGB vales, plus LumenRadio wireless DMX linking, DMX addressing, 8-bit and 16-bit dimming, Menu screen rotation, and a other important selections.

The Celeb family of softlights range in shape and size from the compact Celeb 250 to the 4ft wide Celeb 450 to the quad frame 450Q LEDs. Kino Flos unique center mount option is available on the Celeb 850, as well as yoke and pole operation versions, and includes a 90 focusing louver, and rigging/stacking corner pieces. Some accessories include removable barn doors, a 60 focusing louver, and soft-box and soft-grid light control tools.

The new Celeb 850 joins the growing family of Kino Flo lighting products, including new this year at NAB in Las Vegas: The Freestyle LED 31 and Freestyle LED 21 full color portable systems for location and studio work, with a recently expanded chromatic palette and improved light output.
