Accelerating Healcare Transformation: 06 Predictions and Perspectives by Nancy Twombly

The 1st blog in the Healthcare Predictions & Perspectives blog series. This blog series is focused on healthcare transformational strategies that are enabled through Health IT and Health Information Governance best practices.

HIMSS 16 is just one week away, and I'm excited to see how this years' theme of Transforming Health through IT will be evidenced at the conference. With 450+ education sessions, 1300+ exhibitors, and millions of square feet to experience, there will be a significant opportunity to learn how the industry has leveraged information technology to support Connected Health, enable patient engagement and achieve improve outcomes.

In support of both HIMSS'16, and AHIMA's Health Information Governance month, we're kicking off a new Predictions and Perspectives blog series (see more from the last series). The topic of this series is healthcare transformation. The blogs in the series will highlight how healthcare organizations can accelerate their transformation initiatives by establishing strong foundational practices in Information Governance, Health IT, Privacy and Security, and Data Analytics. By establishing best practices in these disciplines, health systems are better able to reduce risk, enhance compliance, gain efficiencies, and better support their key strategic initiatives.

In this new series, blog authors will provide their predictions and perspectives on healthcare transformation. Authors include healthcare industry experts, as well as those with cross-industry experience. Through this series you'll hear their unique viewpoints on the ways that healthcare professionals can prepare for the new healthcare landscape. Topics include: information lifecycle management, business and clinical intelligence, data quality, governance, and more. The blog authors will also provide examples of strategies that have led to success or failure - in this era of great transformation.

We'll be blogging throughout the conference, and will be reflecting on the transformation examples evidenced during the week.
