Helen Skelton joins BT Sport
Television presenter and intrepid adventurer Helen Skelton is joining BT Sport. Thirty-year-old Skelton, a BBC presenter well known for her daring sporting adventures for Sport Relief, will join the BT Sport Live presenting team and BT Sport's Football Conference and Women's Super League team.
Simon Green, director of BT Sport, said: We're delighted to welcome Helen to the BT Sport team. Helen is a fantastic presenter and is well regarded and respected for her sporting prowess. We are excited to have her on board.
Helen Skelton said: I come from a sports mad family and have been around football my whole life. My brother plays in the Conference North for Workington Reds, so when the opportunity came up to work with BT Sport I couldn't turn it down. I love the passion and loyalty you see from football supporters and I can't wait to tell the stories behind the teams.
The Football Conference and BT Sport have agreed a two-year deal for the new channels to show 30 live matches a season from the Skrill Premier. BT Sport will host live broadcasts from the grounds for 25 league matches, plus both legs of the play-off semis and the Promotion Final at Wembley, from the start of the 2013-14 season in August. The deal will bring live football from England's fifth tier, immediately below The Football League, to a much wider audience than ever before, which will enable greater opportunities for marketing and sponsorship deals.
BT Sport will show 38 live and exclusive football matches from the Barclays Premier League including 18 top pick matches - and 69 live rugby matches from the Aviva Premiership where BT will be the sole and exclusive broadcaster.
BT Sport will offer hundreds of top flight live matches from football leagues around the world including Italy, Germany, France, Brazil, Australia and the US. It will also show live football from the Scottish Professional Football League top flight plus 10 Rangers matches, FA Cup ties for the next five seasons, including the final, as well as live coverage from the UEFA Europa League, the Football Conference and the FA Women's Super League.
