Samsung Introduces New Heat Pump Tumble Dryer to UK Home Appliance Portfolio on Aug 19, 2013 New product offers energy efficiency and premium design, and is available in UK stores now
Samsung Electronics today introduced two high performance heat pump tumble dryers (DV70 and DV80) to its UK line-up of home appliance products. Marking the first time that customers in the UK have been able to purchase a Samsung tumble dryer with this technology, these new additions to Samsung's laundry portfolio combine energy efficiency and premium design to offer the ultimate drying experience. The DV70 and DV80 are available to buy in the UK now from major online and high street retailers, including John Lewis, AO.com and Currys, plus independent retailers.
A key feature of these models is their energy efficiency thanks to Samsung's Heat Pump technology, giving them an energy rating of A++ and making them ideal for anyone looking to keep running costs low. Samsung's Heat Pump technology works by passing warm, dry air through the drum to absorb moisture from your garments, and then cooling the air using refrigerant rather than a more traditional air or water system. This causes condensation which releases the water from the air. The dryer then uses the waste heat created by the cooling process to reheat the air without the need for additional energy and it is brought back into the drum to start the cycle again. The result is that clothes are dried quickly and efficiently, yet the process consumes significantly less power than a conventional dryer.
The Heat Pump Tumble Dryers offer a large capacity 7kg or 8kg drum, so it is possible to dry more laundry in one load, again saving both energy and water as fewer loads are needed to get all your washing dry on rainy days or during the winter months. Not only that, a filter clean alarm will notify you when the condenser filter needs cleaning, ensuring you get the best out of your dryer at all times.
The dryers feature the latest in premium design, so they not only look good but also offer convenience. A glass door offers clear views of the laundry in the drum from the outside so you are able to check on your laundry during the drying process. The dryer is flexible to individual consumer needs as the door is also reversible, so can be easily fixed to open from either the left or the right and therefore be placed anywhere in the kitchen. The dryers are also designed to perfectly match Samsungs current range of ecobubbleTM washing machines, meaning that you can maintain a sleek look in your kitchen or utility room.
The new Heat Pump Tumble Dryer addresses a common gripe for many people who worry about their clothes ageing prematurely through drying. Thanks to the inclusion of Samsung's Diamond Drum, clothes are protected by creating an air cushion effect and producing air pockets that your laundry dries in. This also saves you time as your clothes come out with fewer wrinkles and often no need for ironing. In addition, the drum raises the laundry higher than that in a conventional dryer, so clothes are kept in the warm air for longer and there is less mechanical strain exerted on them.
Designed to make your life easier, the DV70 and DV80 feature a Sensor Drying Mode which uses humidity and temperature sensors to control the operating time and energy usage via a digital control screen, saving you having to programme the dryer yourself. However, there is also a Manual Drying Mode available for anyone wanting to control the drying process themselves. These new dryers don't just dry your clothes, they also come with Samsung's Smart Check technology, which monitors the health of your dryer and helps you diagnose any problems yourself instead of getting the repair man in. The technology works by activating the Smart Check mode on the dryer. A code appears on the display, which can be scanned with a Samsung Smart Washer mobile app and the diagnosis will then appear on your smartphone along with a suggested action to remedy the problem.
The Heat Pump Tumble Dryer is a fantastic addition to our range of UK laundry appliances, says Lana Sanleandro, Head of Marketing, Home Appliances, Samsung UK. One of the main barriers that manufacturers have faced in the past when launching new tumble dryers is the fact that they are perceived to use a lot of energy. It's not an issue we have with the DV70 or DV80 thanks to our heat pump technology, which uses far less energy than a conventional dryer and saves our customers money in the process.
Available in white with either a 7kg or 8kg drum, the new Heat Pump Tumble Dryer is available now from retailers nationwide. The 7kg model (DV70F5E0HGW) can be purchased from John Lewis, AO.com and independent retailers and the 8kg model (DV80F5E5HGW) from Currys.
