RTS launches BTR-30N UHF/VHF wireless intercom system posted: 18/01/2020
Hybrid dual-band UHF/VHF design greatly reduces the system's operating footprint in the congested UHF spectrum Frequency-agile base station and beltpacks - no external computer/device required to select frequencies
RTS is pleased to announce the launch of the BTR-30N two-channel narrow-band UHF/VHF wireless system, the latest addition to its extensive professional intercom portfolio. The BTR-30N frequency-agile base station supports up to four TR-30N (dual channel) or TR-32N (dual channel stereo) frequency-agile beltpacks. The system's hybrid dual-band UHF/VHF design makes it a flexible and user-friendly choice for today's changing and shrinking RF environment - reliable, high-performance, high-fidelity communications delivered with minimum spectrum usage. It is ideal for a wide range of everyday wireless intercom applications, including broadcasting, education, event production, hotels/cruise ships, houses of worship, theaters, utilities, and more.
Regulation and congestion in the RF environment continues to increase worldwide. In the USA, FCC rule changes have limited use of significant segments of the UHF spectrum, reducing the capacity of products operating exclusively in UHF. By taking advantage of the lower VHF frequencies unaffected by these changes, the BTR-30N gives users the ability to increase their wireless system capacity beyond the more limited operating range of UHF alone. Two-way radio systems use one frequency for signals sent from beltpack to base station, and another for signals sent from base station to beltpack. In most systems, these two frequencies belong to the same band, and there is always some separation between them. With the BTR-30N, however, signals from base station to beltpack are sent in the VHF spectrum (from 174 to 216 MHz), and signals from beltpack to base station use UHF (from 482 to 572 MHz).
Providing 25 kHz of modulated bandwidth, the BTR-30N allows more users per channel in the VHF spectrum, along with a reduced footprint in the UHF band. The base station supports up to four TR-30N or TR-32N beltpacks when operating in full-duplex mode; an almost unlimited number of beltpacks may be used with a base station if the beltpacks are used in half-duplex mode. The system allows the beltpack operator to choose between two separate audio channels of communication, with the base station tracking the beltpack selection. This allows the user the flexibility to create a party line and a private line within the same beltpack. The units perform reliably at line-of-sight distances of 300 feet, and the effective operating range can be extended even further using available antenna systems from RTS.
Along with excellent audio performance, the BTR-30N provides all the standard features of the popular BTR-80N UHF system, such as DSP and Intelligent Power Control. Additional features include multiple selectable transmitter power outputs, selectable receiver squelch control, RF metering on base station and beltpack displays, remote battery indicators on base station display, beltpack battery percentage display, low battery tone indicator on beltpack, AC or DC power input on base station, simultaneous two-wire and four-wire operation, and the ability to expand a system for a very large number of users in half-duplex mode with the First-On-Latch-Out feature. The high-efficiency TR-30N and TR-32N beltpacks are constructed of durable and lightweight magnesium and provide up to 10-12 Hours of operation on AA alkaline batteries and between 8-11 hours of operation using NiMH rechargeable battery packs. The BTR-30N fits in a standard 19 equipment rack and is one rack unit high.
The BTR-30N is the latest member of the globally proven RTS BTR wireless intercom family, which also includes the BTR-80N dual-channel narrow-band system and the BTR-800 dual-channel wideband system, which are both now available with new FCC-friendly UHF operating frequencies. As with all BTR products, the BTR-30N can connect to an analog two-wire partyline system or an analog matrix (via two AIO connections), or to a digital matrix (ADAM, ADAM-M and ODIN).
Whatever your budget or application, RTS offers the broadest range of wireless products from a single vendor in the industry, with future-proof performance and value, backwards compatibility, and widest level of support for current and emerging standards.
