According to the economic growth data recently released in the first quarter, Hangzhou Bay New Area maintained high growth in major economic indicators such as gross production, industrial output, fixed asset investment, total fiscal revenue.

Statistics show that from January to March, industrial output value of the Hangzhou Bay New Area hit 27.32 billion yuan, an increase of 72%; industrial fixed assets investment doubled to 5.55 billion yuan; the total investment of imported projects reached 11.515 billion yuan, up by 61%; the total fiscal revenue stood at 2.139 billion yuan, an increase of 60.1%. According to forecast, the gross regional product over the same period was 6 billion yuan, an increase of 40%.

Large projects bear fruitful results, represented by the automobile industry. Every day, there are orders of more than 1200 vehicles from Ningbo Branch of Shanghai Volkswagen, and its single-season output value reached 8.562 billion yuan, an increase of 1397.5%. Under its leadership, auto parts and automotive after-market industry chains in the New Area are also in full swing. Among them, the orders from CITIC Dicastal Co., Ltd. have been placed for the entire year.

Equal emphasis is laid on efficient production and high-intensity input. Shanghai Volkswagen Ningbo expansion project base is in full swing with a total investment of 19.06 billion yuan, and the total investment more than 4.4 billion yuan on an accumulative basis. Recently, the worlds leading servo press production line has settled here, marking the expansion project entering the phase of main equipment installation, and it is expected to be put into operation in 2016. At the same time, Geely Volvo Design and Test Center, Ningbo Huaqiang Chinese Rejuvenation Cultural Park, the Second Hospital of Ningbo Hangzhou Bay District, and Ningbo TAFE college are rapidly moving forward.

Investment is the lifeline of the New Area, with high-quality projects settling for regional economic development, sowing the seed of hope. According to insiders, 9 new projects in the first quarter were introduced to the Hangzhou Bay, covering such areas as data application, automotive, general aviation, bio-pharmaceutical, etc. Some of the projects have been carried out for trial production. Industrial clusters have been formed between the most recent projects and the existing ones, capable of nurturing automotive industry a complete industrial chain of automobiles. With the operation of these projects and the production release, it will continue to drive the economy in the New Area by leaps and bounds.
