The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) have announced new council members, appointed by the Minister of Arts and Culture, who will oversee the implementation of the NFVF objectives until 30 April 2017.

Zama Mkosi, NFVF CEO maintained that the NFVF was thrilled with the announcement of the new administration and said, The previous three years, under the leadership of Ms. Mmabatho Ramagoshi were very fruitful, their focus being transformation, particularly in the development of youth and female filmmakers, people from disadvantaged backgrounds and the disabled. I m proud to say that we have seen positive results out of their strategy and look forward to the next three years of local film growth and development.

Ramagoshi will be serving a second term as chairperson of the NFVF council with George Leolo, who returns as deputy chairperson, and Advocate Roshan Dehal.

The full list of the new NFVF Council 2014-17:

Mmabatho Ramagoshi (Chairperson)

Former Acting Chief Executive Officer and Head of Turnaround process at South African Heritage Resources Agency, former Provincial General Manager at SABC, former Director for Gender Equity at the Department of Education, served as National Programmes Manager: Violence Against Women for United Nations Development Program and United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention, former subject advisor at the Gauteng Department of Education, lectured Education as well as School Management for Senior Primary and Secondary Teachers Diploma I and III.

George Leolo (Deputy Chairperson)

Served auditing articles at KPMG, worked in the CFO s office at the Department of Trade and Industry, former CFO of Sifikile Investment Holdings, former CEO of Bambiri Technologies.

Advocate Roshan Dehal

Served on the appeal board of the Medical Schemes, former board member of the Estate Agency Affairs Board, presides as the Chairperson of the Committee of Enquiry of the EAAB, Chairperson of the Audit, Risk and Finance Committee of Africa Institute of South Africa, serves as a consultant to the public sector and parastatals as well as labour unions on legal matters.

Pamela Mashiane

Founder and Manager of Segakweng Enterprise and Strategy Consulting Pty Ltd, former Marketing Manager at ABSA Bank, board member of Johannesburg Development Agency, serves on the Board of Kgosi Neigbourhood Foundation, served on Johannesburg Theatre Complex board, board member of Johannesburg Development Agency.

Thabiso Lawrence Masudubele

Senior Manager: Industry Support and Development Unit at Gauteng Film Commission, former Project Manager: Gauteng Film Commission, former Special Projects, Coordinator: Gauteng Film Commission, previous Metro FM Film Coordinator, former Special Project Coordinator: Film Resource Unit.

Desiree Markgraaf

Executive Producer of Isibaya, Zone 14, Jacob s Cross and Yizo Yizo, founder of Filmmakers against Racism, possesses 30 years of experience in local and international entertainment, served as Chairperson of the Independent Producers Association.

Brendyn Meyer

Currently appointed as Non-Executive Director and member of the Audit Committee of Mpumalanga Gaming Board, former Head of Internal Audit at the Independent Development Trust, Responsible for accounting, tax and advisory services at BM Consulting, served as Technical Advisor to the CFO of the Independent Development Trust, former CFO: Wellco Health Limited, former Managing Director: Smile Education Systems (Pty) Ltd, served as Financial Manager at Geoscience.

Leslie Mkhabela

Director and Chairman: Mkhabela Huntley Adekeye Inc, Member and Chairman of Limpopo Gambling Board, Director and Chairman of Belvane Home Owners Association Limited, Member, Specialist Examiner and member of the screening panel at Law Society of the Northern Provinces, Member of the Johannesburg Attorneys Association, Member of the Black Lawyers Association, Member of the International Association of Gaming Regulators, renders advisory services to organisations such as the Independent Communication Association of SA.

Phillip Molefe

Independent media consultant, former Acting CEO at SABC, former Head of SABC Africa, former Editor in Chief for SABC News, served as General Executive for Current Affairs at SABC, served as Vice President of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association, former Political Editor and Political Correspondent for the SABC, former Journalist.

Aboobaker Moosa

Managing Director of cinema, exhibition and entertainment company, the Avalon Group.

Lorraine Jikijela Ramathesele

Group CEO for Izwi Multimedia, Co-Executive Producer of Danie Odendaal Productions (7de Laan), former Chairperson of REMCO, former Chairperson of Thesele Coal, former Chairperson of Gilead Foundation, former General Manager of SABC 2, Africa 2 Africa and SABC Africa, previous Marketing Manager of CCV TV (SABC 1), previous Sales Executive for SABC Radio and TV, former Chairperson of Afripalm Community Trust, former Chairperson of Newtown Film and Television School.

Sandile Swana

Director and CFO of SABLE Data Works, former Director: Business Development at PTC Group, chaired Audit Committees of Gold One Limited (JSE-GDO) and the Independent Communication Authority of South Africa, lectured part-time at Wits Business School, served as Chairperson of ConvergeNet Limited Audit and Risk Committees, chaired Sallies Limited Audit and Risk Committees.
