Sins are defined as any deed, emotion or thoughts which are against or not in line with the standards and plans of God. This includes unfaithfulness towards the commandments of God by doing wrong in the eyes of God (read John 3:36). Photo: Pixabay

It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. BIBLE VERSES: 1 JOHN 5:17, HEBREW 12:2 In the original languages of the Bible the word sin means 'to miss a target.'' We fail to adhere to the perfect plan and standards of God. It really seems as if we always miss the targets of God. Sins are defined as any deed, emotion or thoughts which are against or not in line with the standards and plans of God. This includes unfaithfulness towards the commandments of God by doing wrong in the eyes of God (read John 3:36).

We must understand that we can only be saved through faith in Christ. It is not our good deeds that save us but our faith in Jesus Christ and the fact that He died for our sins on the cross of Calvary. It is important for us to understand this process because in this is the victory of sins cemented.

Children of the Lord commit sins, we will never be free of sins as long as we are living in our sinful bodies. We have a sinful nature which will only disappear when we are taken away through death. John said in 1 John 1: 8 that if we said that we have no sin, mislead us ourselves and that the truth will then not be within ourselves.

We should therefore have courage, rise when we fall, re- proclaim our faith in the Lord, ask the Lord for forgiveness and see ourselves as dead for sins. We should furthermore have trust in the Lord and not depend on our own weak human strengths otherwise we will fall again (read Hebrew 12:2).

Let us therefore keep our eyes on the Rock, Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to give us the necessary guidance.

PRAYER Lord, we pray for the forgiveness of our sins. Please give us the wisdom to see the difference between right and wrong. Help us to keep our eyes on You and to follow Your commandments. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen

Wanneer ons sonde pleeg kan dit volgens die oorspronklike tale van die Bybel vertaal word as om n teiken tem is . Dit beteken dus dat ons nie aan God se volmaakte standaarde voldoen nie. Sonde is enige daad, gevoel of gedagte wat nie met God se standaarde en plan saamstem nie.

Hoe maak ons wanneer ons sukkel met sonde wat jy nie kan oorkom nie? Ons pleeg die sonde en voel dan geweldig skuldig en probeer dan daarmee ophou net om weer daarin te verval. Ons moet egter nie vreesagtig raak as ons daarmee sukkel en struikel nie. God weet dat ons nie instaat is om Sy wet volkome te gehoorsaam nie omdat ons in sonde gebore is en dat dit ons menslike natuur is. Dit is waarom Jesus gekom het en vir ons sondes gesterf het. Indien ons as mense sou kon sondeloos lewe, sou die kruissdood van Jesus vir ons onnodig gewees het.

Ons moet onthou dat n ware gelowige struikel en val weer in sonde in, maar n ongelowige lewe daarin. Ons moet dus moed hou en opstaan wanneer ons val, om vergifnis te vra en dan verder te leef in geloof. Verder moet ons ons oee gevestig hou op Jesus en sensitief wees vir die leiding van die Heilige Gees.

Ons moet onthou dat die groot wonder van God se genade is dat Hy sonde vergewe maar dan moet on sons sondes opreg voor Hom bely.God vergewe nie ons sonde omdat Hy ons liefhet nie. Nee, die enigste manier hoe God ons sondes sal vergewe, is die Kruis van Christus. Ons moet glo dat Jesus weer sal kom na hierdie wereld om die kaf van die koring te skei, en Sy koms is naby.

GEBED Dankie Here dat U na ons luister wanneer ons bid om vergifnis van ons sondes. Ons is vol sonde as sondige mense maar ons weet dat ons ons toevlug na U kan neem.Vader, vergewe ons sondes en help ons om alle versoekings van die bose te kan weerstaan.Ons bid dit alles in die Here wat ons kan transformeer. Amen.
