Sport Production Summit in Amsterdam - Continuing the conversation posted: 21/09/2017
Following a discussion at NAB on the EVS booth, Host Broadcast Services Chief of External Relations Lise Cosimi-Breant continued to exchange with EVS Chief Executive Officer Muriel de Lathouwer thoughts around gender equality in the broadcast industry and the initiatives the two companies have set up to allow women greater access to tech/broadcast training. This shared presentation highlighted the extended partnership between HBS and EVS, which resulted in the launch of the Live TV Simulator training tool for broadcast professionals.
The EVS Live TV Simulator is set to revolutionise training in the world of broadcasting. HBS is a pioneer host broadcaster for multi-sport international events, and one of the first engineering and production companies to experiment with the latest innovative production techniques like HD, 4K, 3D and Virtual Reality.
The Live TV Simulator is one of a kind: it includes live video servers - enabling up to 16 ISO camera feeds for ingest/playout, instant replay and slow-motion tools and a live video switcher that can be used by multiple trainees simultaneously.
Encouraging Women in Sports Production and Directing
The Broadcast Academy and IBC had prepared a special session for women wishing to develop their talent, offering the chance to take on the challenges of the top-level roles in sports broadcasting. Top sports directors shared their secrets and expertise to help the young ladies to get ahead in the field. Whether it is 2 cameras or 40, every director shares the same goal: to create the most exciting event possible for the audience to watch. This opportunity should improve everyone's skill base to achieve that aim.
Train Tomorrows Stars
HBS and EVS are encouraging the next generation of talent to take in the Broadcast Academy. The Broadcast Academy was a two-part programme which took place on Sunday 17 September welcoming all aspiring sports broadcasters. Attendees were given the opportunity to develop their talent through an extensive programme including operational training and the use of the brand new EVS Live TV Simulator, allowing the user to take on the challenges of top level roles in sports production.
Broadcast Academy
The Broadcast Academy was established by HBS with the purpose of creating a broadcasting legacy. HBS was the host broadcaster for the 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. It has been responsible for the most watched sporting events on the planet and will continue to be with the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups. This organisation has been at the forefront of innovation and has acquired its skills and knowledge by working with the best in the industry. To share this knowledge and improve sports broadcasting standards at an international level, the Broadcast Academy has been delivering its programmes in more than 20 countries around the world. It has trained more than 10,000 TV professionals from various fields since its inception.
The Broadcast Academy is unique in its approach as it relies on professionals and broadcast experts to help other professionals develop and improve their broadcasting skills.
