Industry Alert: Two career-defining opportunities at FilmNation

Screen Australia, in partnership with FilmNation Entertainment, is offering Australia's producing stars of tomorrow an outstanding internship opportunity. Two emerging producers will be chosen to spend six months with FilmNation in either Los Angeles or New York from January 2014, supported through Screen Australia's Talent Escalator program.

FilmNation is the go-to destination for some of the world's most renowned filmmakers, including Steven Soderbergh, Terrence Malick, Pedro Almodovar and Sofia Coppola, shaping and selling films that since 2008 have grossed more than US$1 billion worldwide.

This is a career-changing chance-in-a-lifetime for two of our brightest, most ambitious young producers to observe first-hand how some of the smartest executives in the world do their jobs in one of the most dynamic companies in the world.

The placement in New York will work closely with FilmNation's acquisition department, whose sales slate has included The King's Speech, Looper, Magic Mike, The Bling Ring and David Mich d's The Rover. Reporting to a senior FilmNation executive, the role will involve evaluating scripts and writing coverage for FilmNation's international sales business, preparing projections and marketplace analysis for the Executive Vice President of Acquisitions, running numbers' on select submissions, tracking submissions and festival entries and attending filmmaker and key internal meetings.

The placement at FilmNation Los Angeles will work closely with the production department, which is responsible for Jeff Nichols' Mud, Mark Tonderai's House at the End of the Street and Dan Beers' Premature. The role will involve evaluating scripts for FilmNation's feature film production business, including writing detailed coverage, preparing analysis of scripts and ideas for the President of Production, preparing writer, director and cast lists, providing script notes on select projects and participating in writer and key internal meetings.
