WRAL-TV Wins Gabriel Award

Named Secular Television Station of the Year for 2nd Consecutive Year

The Catholic Academy of Communication Professionals has honored WRAL-TV with the national Gabriel award for Secular Television Station of the Year for the second consecutive year. According to the Catholic Academy, the Gabriel awards recognize outstanding artistic achievement in media that entertains and enriches with a true vision of humanity and a true vision of life.

We are honored to win this national, prestigious award, said WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel. To have done so two years in a row speaks to the consistency and ongoing commitment WRAL-TV has in providing our viewers with in-depth quality news and community service.

For 50 years, the Catholic Academy, which began as the Catholic Broadcasters Association, has been recognizing outstanding artistic achievement in media. Entrants from across the United States go through a highly selective process. According to the Catholic Academy, entrants only receive an award when, a level of excellence is achieved in values, content, creativity, artistic quality, technical quality or impact.

The 50th annual Gabriel Awards presentation will be June 25, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo Hotel in New York.
