Dave scores iTunes top spot with new series of the Magic Sponge podcast

Former footballer Jimmy Bullard and comedians Rob Beckett and Ian Smith are back with more new episodes of Dave footballing podcast The Magic Sponge. The new series launched this week and has already topped the iTunes comedy podcast chart with only US podcast series Serial ahead of The Magic Sponge in the overall chart.

Each week a footballing guest joins the lads to talk about the beautiful game and the ridiculous lives of professional footballers. Meanwhile, Jimmy has been busy fishing, hosting his new TV series on London Live and an appearance on the Storage Hunters UK Celebrity Special, Rob has had a baby and been touring with a new show and Ian... has been learning to drive.

We learn from Jimmys mum that he wouldnt answer the phone until he was 18 and that on the Jonathan Ross Show, Rob peeled a banana with his feet. The lads also try their hand at being football pundits in a hilarious new commentary game.

The third series of The Magic Sponge, follows the recent success of Mr Gameshow hosted by Mike Wozniak and Diane Morgan, and Alex Horne Breaks the News. Programme podcasts such as Crackanory and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled have also regularly topped the iTunes podcast chart.
