London Fashion Week (LFW) saw UK designer Richard Quinn harness Epson powered projection mapping to create a dynamic and stunning background for his forthcoming collection.

This week the cool, the stylish and in in many cases the curiously dressed masses descended on London for one of the fashion industry's biggest events: London Fashion Week.

Among the many collections paraded in a packed line up of catwalk shows was the Spring/Summer 2019 range from homegrown British talent Richard Quinn.

Quinn, who counted the Queen among the audience of his last show, has a longstanding partnership with Epson, using the Japanese electronics company's printers to create his striking and iconic prints on fabric.

This week he added Epson projectors to that mix with projection mapped content on two walls. CrucialFX, a company specialising in experiential projection, lighting and VR, handled the set up and ran the projection show.

A 25,000 laser lumen projector (EB-L25000U) fired onto the back wall of the main area of the catwalk projecting a subtle storm sequence as a backdrop.

Speaking to InAVate after the show, Mark Rivkin from CrucialFX noted that Quinn wanted to make sure the projected content didn't detract from the star of the show the clothes.

However, Rivkin's team was given more freedom with a second surface, elevated from the main catwalk. On to this wall, the thunder and lighting content was interspersed with a mix from a live feed that showed members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (who provided the soundtrack).

CrucialFX used disguise GX2 servers for the show, together with NOTCH software, and Barco E2 processors - as well as a further four Epson 15,000 lumen EB-L1755U 3LCD projectors to create the effect.

In a press release, Quinn said: This show combines for the first time Epson's printing and projection world-class technologies Epson's passion for pushing their technologies to their limits is very exciting the printer tea has been very supportive and now I can integrate visual imaging to my show.
