Seasoned actress Brenda Mhlongo who replaced Fundiswa Zwane in Imbewu: The Seed as KaMadonsela is reportedly in hot water for strangling a producer on set.

It's been reported that Mhlongo has left the show after her meltdown on the Durban-based telenovela.

BRENDA MHLONGO STRANGLES PRODUCER A source from e.tv's telenovela has shared that actress Brenda Mhlongo - who plays a sangoma KaMadonsela strangled an Imbewu: The Seed producer on set after she went into a trance.

The source added that the producer screamed for help when the popular actress choked her.

An article in the Sunday World reported that Mhlongo said she got too much into her character and the dlozi took over .

The popular actress has been applauded by viewers for her traditional healer role as she's very convincing.

Another mole told the Sunday tabloid that they were not shocked by Mhlongo's actions as the conditions the actors are working under at Imbewu are toxic.

Sources on set also revealed that Brenda hasn't been the same since she received a lower-paying contract and since the new management of the show took over.

The new management brought with them very rude and unprofessional crew members who are treating actors and other people like crap.

Many people have been on depression pills since the new management took over.

The work environment is no longer enjoyable, and people are scared to talk because they do not want to be fired as the new management does not like to be challenged.

HER ROLE AS KAMADONSELA Bennum van Jaarsveld who is a spokesperson from e.tv confirmed to Sunday World that Mhlongo went into a real trance and she had to be calmed down by the producer.

They had to stop shooting so that she could come back.

City Press however reported that the actress left Imbewu and has joined Tshedza Pictures' telenovela The River.

The publication reported that she joined The River after they offered her a more lucrative global contract.

Mhlongo allegedly felt disrespected when she was presented with a lower-paying call actor's contract in 2021 by Imbewu.

They're cost-cutting and instead of letting her go - as they did to half the cast and crew last year - they put her on a call contract, which meant she was only paid per shoot.

As a big actress, she didn't take kindly to that at all.

Other actors who left the telenovela between 2021 and 2022 include Buhle Samuels, Muzi Mthabela, Nkanyiso Mchunu, and Phindile Gwala.
