Continuing a rich heritage in delivering the best products, Sony has won five prestigious awards from EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association), the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe.
Recognising leading technology spanning the television, digital imaging, home theatre and mobile product divisions, the awards are proof of Sony's commitment to producing high-quality, reliable products that customers can use with confidence.
European Advanced Camera of the year 2013-2014: SLT-A99
See every detail, every strand of colour, even in low-light with a high-resolution 24.3 megapixels and 35mm full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor. Teamed with the BIONZ image process engine, you get powerful noise reduction - for lifelike photos with big impact.
European Compact Camera of the year 2013-2014: DSC-HX50 / HX50V
Building on the previous success of the HX series of compact cameras (The HX5, HX9 and HX20 are previous EISA awards winners), the HX50 is the perfect travel camera. From round-the-world expeditions to a Sunday stroll, it gives every scene the detail it deserves and is the smallest digital camera with a 30x zoom[i]. The 20.4MP sensor and built-in stabilisation deliver vibrant photos from a camera that's truly pocket-sized.
European TV of the year 2013-2014: KDL-55W905A
Being the fourth year in a row that EISA have awarded BRAVIA TV with such a prestigious accolade, the W9 excels the beauty, emotion, drama and excitement of every moment with the best-ever picture and sound quality in one TV. The combination of the latest X-Reality PRO engine and the new TRILUMINOS Display results in the best of colour and detail in pictures from any source. This top of the range model also makes watching TV effortless by letting you control it from your smartphone or tablet. All wrapped up in the stunning Sense of Quartz design.
European HT Receiver of the year 2013-2014: STR-DA5800ES
This newly developed 4th generation 9.2 channel AV receiver is discrete while having superb sound quality and wider range sound reproduction. It powers both Front High speakers and Surround Back speakers and offers a variety of sound modes to optimise audio plus options to virtually create and adjust a surround effect without a full install. A mix of ways to connect means you can enjoy music and movies any way you want, while the 4K upscale technology means your favourite movies can be seen in four times the detail of Full HD with a 4K TV.
European Tablet of the year 2013-2014: Xperia Tablet Z
Xperia Tablet Z is the most premium, high performance 10.1 Android tablet available and includes the very best of Sony technology. It sets new standards in entertainment by matching premium specifications with cross-device connectivity and a consistent user-experience. It's also incredibly slim and lightweight at 6.9mm and 495g and has the highest levels of water resistance (IP55 & IP57) ever delivered in a tablet, making it immune to accidental spills and splashes.

European Advanced Camera of the year 2013-2014: SLT-A99
Sony's flagship camera, the Alpha SLT-A99, provides the demanding photographer with excellent image quality and a host of innovative features through its use of a full frame sensor and its SLT electronic viewfinder system. The camera's Exmor CMOS sensor features 24.3 million pixels which, via the BIONZ image processor, can output 14-bit raw files at a rate of six frames per second, while the camera's unique dual phase detection AF system is designed to keep up with fast moving subjects. Sophisticated video controls and high quality recording modes make this an excellent choice for shooting moving images too. Sony has used magnesium alloy to create a professional-build body, and has incorporated a very high-resolution vari-angle 3-inch LCD panel that allows shooting from almost any angle.
European Compact Camera of the year 2013-2014: DSC-HX50 / HX50V
Following the tradition of this category's winner from the 2012-2013 EISA awards, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20, the HX50 is the worlds smallest compact camera with a 30x zoom lens - stretching the limits of the compact zoom segment even more. Equipped with a Sony G-class lens, the DSC-HX50 offers a great balance of worry-free point-and-shoot photography and high-level manual control and customisation. The HX50V also includes GPS to record the exact location where a picture was taken. Other features, like the 20.4MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, the highly effective optical stabilisation, the 1080p AVCHD video and the dedicated exposure compensation dial, will be very much appreciated by photographers of all levels.
EUROPEAN TV of the year 2013-2014: Sony BRAVIA KDL-55W905A
With the KDL-55W905A, Sony has unleashed its new Triluminos LED display and a second generation of its processing engine X-Reality Pro. The result is a faultless picture performance with vibrant, lifelike colours and superb motion clarity that suits sports, movies and games, while the long-duct speaker system delivers excellent audio, too. A new, fast user interface makes the TV easy to operate, as do features like the NFC enabled remote and TV SideView app. A thin aluminium bezel and eye-catching stand give the KDL-55W905A its distinctive Sense of Quartz' look. An excellent choice for the demanding consumer.
European HT Receiver of the year 2013-2014: Sony STR-DA5800ES
