Hefeng Creative Square listed as industrial design demonstration base

With more than 70 foreign and domestic design agencies, Hefeng Creative Square has achieved an annual design service income of over 500 million yuan, only two years after its establishment. It was learned on March 30 from China Industrial Design Association that Ningbo Hefeng Creative Square has been selected as one of the four "demonstration bases for Chinese industrial designs".

Liu Qi, member of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee, hopes that the square can continue to make efforts to develop itself into a gathering land for talents, an engine for innovations, a large platform for foreign trade and a "golden brand" of the city. Lu Ziyue, Deputy Secretary of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Ningbo, hopes that the Hefeng Creative Square can be developed into an advanced design and creative zone boasting of well-known masters, enterprises and products.

Hefeng Creative Square is an important platform for speeding up the construction of the innovative city and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as a key base for improving Ningbos city value and realizing Ningbos transformation from a "manufacturing city" to a " design city". Since its establishment two years ago, with its core functions of "design and development" and "result transformation", the square has rapidly attracted over 70 design agencies from home and abroad and over 2000 design talents. It has become an accumulation zone for industrial design and creative industry with the largest scale in China, the best equipments, the most complete industrial coverage and the most service platforms in China.

In the past two years, the Hefeng Creative Square has actively cooperated with manufacturing enterprises in Ningbo. Only in last year, the creative and industrial design enterprises that settled in the square achieved a total turnover of nearly 1.4 billion yuan and a total design service value of 520 million yuan, leading to a total output value of about 60 billion yuan.

The "top 10 supporting service centers" of the square have become a well-known public service platform in Ningbo. For instance, as the most advanced and influential rapid prototyping center in east Zhejiang Province, "Hefeng RP Center" has provided services for over 400 manufacturers in Ningbo.

The selection of China industrial design demonstration bases aims to promote the advanced experiences of some design parks, enterprises, institutes and colleges that have made active efforts and gained significant achievements in industrial design and innovation. It is hoped that those typical national demonstration bases may lead to the health and rapid development of the industrial design industry. Besides the Hefeng Creative Square, the other three demonstration bases include Guangdong Industrial Design Town, Shenzhen Design Industry Park and Beijing DRC Industrial Design and Creative Industry Base.
