The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the South African Film and Television Awards Committee have extended the closing date for applications for the 2015 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) to 28 August 2014.

The awards honour excellence in the South African film and television industry and are presented by the NFVF with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) as the broadcast partner and sponsor.

The closing date for submission of feature films is not affected, and therefore remains the 30th of October 2014.

Eligibility

Productions will only be considered if they are submitted and fall under the below parameters:

Film and TV programmes which have been produced and publicly exhibited or broadcast between 1 Aug 2013 and 31 July 2014

Feature films produced and publicly exhibited between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2014

Categories

The SAFTAs accept entries in the following categories:

TV Non-fiction

TV Fiction

Feature Films

Short Films

Student Films

Animation

The awards also celebrate film and television industry icons who have long served in various fields of the industry through the Special Lifetime Achievement award.

This year the committee has decided to include presenters by creating a Best Presenter in TV Non-Fiction award. In addition, the youth and children categories have been divided into two classifications: The Best Youth award and Best Children s award. This is to ensure that the best talents are honoured in the relevant categories.
