SoCal Connected Looks at the Struggles of a Working class Neighborhood Facing the Largest Freeway Expansion Project in the Country: the 70 Corridor

BURBANK, CA - May 30, 2014 - SOCAL CONNECTED, KCETs Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series, digs into the human impact of the largest infrastructure project in the country, the expansion of the 710 freeway. Is there a way to accommodate the growth of truck traffic to and from the port without sacrificing the health and quality of life for the people who live along this busy corridor? SOCAL CONNECTED reporter Derrick Shore looks at the issue from both sides: the families who live right next to the freeways noise, pollution and traffic hazards, as well as the perspective of a big-rig trucker who travels the congested roadway several times a day to support his family. Will their voices be heard as plans for this massive project take shape? The story airs on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 8 p.m.

Extreme Unicyclist - Monday through Friday hes a mild-mannered piano-tuner, but on his own time hes a single-wheeled adventurer who calls himself, the UniGeezer (because hes over 50). SOCAL CONNECTED anchor Val Zavala follows Terry Peterson as he performs incredible feats on a unicycle that many mountain bikers wouldnt try.
