Object Matrix is proud to announce Televisi n Nacional de Chile (TVN), a Chilean public service broadcaster, has selected Object Matrix and Santiago-based systems integrator VGL to implement 10 petabytes of archived media content to MatrixStore On-prem, replacing their LTO storage archive platform.
Established in 1969, TVN is one of the leading television broadcasters in Chile and South America. They helped establish a public service for the entire country and were the first television network to have national coverage.
TVN went to the market to find a solution to replace their incumbent LTO system. They needed to ensure all archived content was instantly available through their VizRT Vizone platform, providing enhanced content access resilience options, and that their content was protected in a future-proof manner. Based on their selection criteria, they selected MatrixStore On-Prem object storage to be their archive platform of the future, ensuring their content is protected at the highest levels and connected to those that need to access it.
In the coming months, migration of existing archive content to the MatrixStore object storage platform will commence, and new content will be archived using the S3 interface. Once migrated, the entire archive can also be accessed using Vision, the media, and metadata management application from Object Matrix, thus enabling future-proof access to content from within or outside the TVN network.
With this new system we will improve the technology we use in TVN, it will be more efficient and will allow faster content searches, as well as the digitization of our historical archive. Additionally, this system consumes less energy, occupies less physical space in our facilities, with better availability of service and less probability of failures or errors , says Marcelo Carrillo, Information Technology Deputy Manager of TVN.

MatrixStore On-prem object storage was designed specifically for media workflows. It will enable TVN to protect their archive, back up their work in progress, and provide access to their content from anywhere, with all the added benefits of increased efficiency and productivity when accessing their archived content.

The system to replace the LTO system at TVN will be implemented and supported by Object Matrix partner VGL in Chile.
