Farncombe launches Ultra HD security audit service

Farncombe, a leading provider of specialist technology and operational services, today announced that it has enhanced its portfolio of security audits with a service designed to help VOD providers and broadcasters secure Ultra HD content.

This new audit service builds on Farncombe's expertise helping operators and vendors develop and deploy Ultra HD technologies. It complements Farncombe's existing security audit services.

The MovieLabs' specification for enhanced content protection for Ultra HD and other next generation video content contains a number of recognisable technologies such as hardware root of trust, secure video pipeline and watermarking - but also includes other new requirements, such as security monitoring, software and title diversity, and 3rd party certification, which are less familiar. The MovieLabs specification also states that each studio will independently determine which requirements are applicable to its content.

Because the MovieLabs specification proposes a number of different requirements depending on the video delivery system, there's a level of uncertainty in the industry, said Andr Roy, Security Practice Leader at Farncombe.
