More than 20 performing artists from across L.A. County will take part in this three-hour cultural extravaganza held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Downtown Los Angeles
Burbank, CA - December 10, 2012 - For more than four decades, KCET, the nations largest independent public television station, has broadcast Los Angeles largest and oldest holiday show in the region. This year, The 53rd Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration will be no exception, airing live on Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and repeating at 8 p.m. The free three-hour show takes place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and attracts no less than 5,000 Angelenos each year, featuring more than 20 choirs, music ensembles and dance companies from the diverse neighborhoods and cultures of Los Angeles.
Adam Davis, managing director of productions for the L.A. County Arts Commission and producer of The L.A. County Holiday Celebration since 2006, feels the show is a Los Angeles tradition because of the local music and dance groups who participate.
The show was envisioned as a gift to the residents of Los Angeles and with KCETs partnership, were able to reach that goal, says Davis. The show is infectious, he adds, and is really the perfect way to get in touch with your community while simultaneously celebrating the holidays.
The L.A. County Holiday Celebration continues its ongoing partnership with KCET because the broadcast expands the reach of the program and allows fans, who would not experience it otherwise, the opportunity to witness an extraordinary cultural holiday event.
Since 1964, the Arts Commission has produced a holiday celebration in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center every year on December 24th. The program honors the spirit of many cultures and holiday traditions through music, song and dance.
The program repeats Monday, Dec. 24 at 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Dec. 25 at 12 p.m., and then at 3 p.m. It will also be streamed live at www.kcet.org and broadcast live via radio on 90.7 KPFK.
