Thandeka Zwana appointed as business manager for Film Finances SA --

Film Finances South Africa, a part of the Film Finances, Inc. group a world leader in completion guarantees is happy to announce the appointment of Thandeka Zwana to the position of business manager in the Johannesburg office, as of 1 October 2014.

Zwana has over 10 years experience in the film industry having started out as a production assistant for television drama and later working her way up to line producer for feature films and long form television drama. She held her previous position as production and development manager for fiction at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), for three and a half years. Her duties at the NFVF included monitoring and evaluating projects that had been granted funding for either development or production and so Zwana sees her new position as a natural progression. She comments, I am pleased that I will still be involved in the industry and will get the chance to follow the progress of the many filmmakers that I began interactions with whilst at the NFVF.

Zwana is looking forward to growing the awareness of the function of Film Finances in the local market and providing the high standard of service which the group has become synonymous with. Many first time or emerging filmmakers are unsure of the role of a completion guarantor, and in keeping with my passion for development in the industry, I intend to make sure that all filmmakers understand and appreciate the need for this and have the access they need to make use of this service as a means of becoming more credible and more reliable filmmakers, she says.

Director Jane Fry has been solely managing the South Africa office for over 18 months and welcomes the addition to the team. Zwana acknowledges there is much to learn in this new chapter in her career and is happy that she is joining a team with such experience and a solid reputation in the industry.
