SA film to play at Berlin Film Festival --

Shepherds and Butchers, a film produced by Anant Singh and Brian Cox of Videovision Entertainment and subsidiary company Distant Horizon, has been selected as part of the 2016 Berlin Film Festival s Panorama section. The festival runs from 11 to 21 February.
Shepherds and Butchers is based on a true story, set in 1987 South Africa. When a lawyer, played by English actor Steve Coogan (), takes on a case involving a young prison guard, played by South African actor Garion Dowds ( Generations The Legacy), who murders seven black men; it changes the course of history. Directed by Oliver Schmitz the film also stars Andrea Riseborough (Birdman), Robert Hobbs (Chappie) and Deon Lotz (Faan se Trein).
According to a report by eNCA, at the World Economic Forum s annual meeting in Switzerland, Singh said: The film deals with capital punishment which is a universal, yet controversial issue, and Berlin has a tradition of embracing films of this nature, and the discussion of social issues is always on the agenda at the forum in Davos and the death penalty is no exception.
