Nielsen has announced results from a co-viewing pilot program covering February's top live televised events. The pilot found an average 4.19% lift in total viewers across the Super Bowl LX, Olympics Opening Ceremony, NBA All-Star Game, Daytona 500, Olympics Closing Ceremony, Olympics Men's Hockey Gold Medal Game, and State of the Union Address.
The co-viewing results from the pilot will not be included in final Big Data + Panel ratings for Nielsen clients and will not be used as currency that advertisers transact on. Nielsen plans to incorporate the co-viewing methodology into currency measurement for the 2026/2027 TV season.
The co-viewing enhancement adds panelists using wearable devices inside the home, which were not previously applied to co-viewing modeling.

Nielsen will continue sharing co-viewing impact data with clients throughout the year. More detailed demographic data from the pilot has been made available directly to clients.
