Chelsea 3-1 Crystal Palace Chelsea are second in the Premier League and two points off leaders Manchester City, after rising to beat Crystal Palace.

Alvaro Morata struck twice to help seal London derby victory over Roy Hodgson's Eagles.

The Blues went ahead when James Tomkins' block fell into the path of in-form AMorata, who spun and finished on 32 minutes.

Palace had no intention of subsiding, however, as Andros Townsend took a lovely touch before thwacking in the equalizer on 53 minutes.

But Morata is a man on a mission at the moment.

The Spanish sharpshooter was the beneficiary of substitute Eden Hazard's searching free kick, drilling home to restore a slender lead.

And any linger nerves were quelled when Pedro slotted in Marcos Alonso's neat centre, as Maurizio Sarri's men continued their unbeaten Premier League start.

The reigning champions blew the sorry visitors away right from the off at the Etihad Stadium.

Wesley Hoedt's sixth-minute own goal started the carnage, before Sergio Aguero made it two following Raheem Sterling's foraging run into the box.

It was three after just 18 minutes when David Silva arrived at the far post to fire high into the back of the net.

Notorious perfectionist Pep Guardiola will have been miffed at how his side eased off, though, with Danny Ings rolling in a penalty to reduce the arrears after Ederson's clumsy foul.

Sterling, however, swept in number four in first half stoppage time to restore the three-goal advantage.

The England flier powered in the fifth midway through the second half, before Leroy Sane added the injury time sixth to truly sink the Saints.
