Cobalt Digital Wins NewBay Media Technical Innovation Award for Its Text-to-Speech Software, TTS December 22, 2015

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Cobalt Digital today announced that TTS, its customized text-to-speech software, has been recognized with NewBay Media's third annual Product Innovation Award.

Of the hundreds of new products in the competition, only a small number were chosen for Technical Innovation Awards. Winners were selected by a panel of professional users, and evaluation criteria included innovation, design, creativity, value, and suitability for use in a broadcast TV environment.

Our customers started implementing TTS to meet the FCC mandate made in November, said Bob McAlpine, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cobalt Digital. It's gratifying to know that the NewBay judges recognized, as our customers have, that stations can now better serve their local audiences with this valuable tool.

The multiaward-winning TTS text-to-speech software option can accommodate multiple languages. An English-language speech engine is standard, with advanced engines available as expansion options. Cobalt will release a Spanish-language engine in January 2016.

TTS software is licensable to the 9922-2FS dual frame sync card and other Cobalt openGear cards, including 9902-UDX, 9922-FS, and 9932-EMDE. The TTS option can be downloaded to the following stand-alone BBG-1000 boxes: BBG-1002-UDX, BBG-1022-FS, BBG-1022-2FS, and BBG-1032-EMDE.

The Cobalt Digital TTS option is a complete 21CVAA-compliant text-to-speech solution comprising an integrated, self-contained single-device system with no added dedicated units or baseband audio patches. Its sophisticated text-to-speech synthesis provides realistic male- or female-versed voice conversion within a single unit and without any baseband intermediate breakouts or patches between the audio module and the host device.
