TeliaSonera wins LTE Award for 4G roaming

TeliaSonera is awarded for the Best LTE/4G Roaming Product and Service at the 2013 LTE Awards in Amsterdam. The prize winning service is a 4G roaming for Danish TeliaSonera customers allowing them to use their 4G connection in SwedenTeliaSonera launched the 4G roaming service in February 2013, as the first company in Europe.

This is the third time TeliaSonera receives the LTE Award at the LTE World Summit and we are proud to once again act as pioneers and introduce 4G roaming as the first company in Europe.

4G roaming between Denmark and Sweden is an important step towards global 4G roaming to support our customers to enjoy the lightning fast 4G technology also when travelling to other countries. We strongly believe that modern mobile technology should be accessible and easy to use both domestically and abroad. That is the reason why we have a strong focus on enabling the customers to utilize the possibilities with 4G seamlessly - even across borders, says Tommy Ljunggren, Head of System development at Mobility services, TeliaSonera.

During 2013 the 4G roaming service also will be launched in other TeliaSonera markets, and as from today Norwegian customers can roam with 4G when visiting Sweden. TeliaSonera will also open up roaming agreements with operators outside TeliaSonera's own markets, to make it possible for TeliaSonera customers to use their 4G services in all countries with 4G.

Since 2009, when TeliaSonera became the first operator in the world to commercially launch 4G services, the 4G technology has become widespread and loved by many because of the huge increase in data speeds. Faster surfing, better streaming experiences, and online gaming are some of the great advantages of 4G.

Facts:

4G roaming is included in TeliaSonera offer for data roaming; SurfAbroad. With Surf abroad the cost will never exceed a certain level per day, e.g. 5 Euros/per day in EU for a certain amount of data. Surf Abroad is automatically offered in several countries also outside EU, including Thailand, Japan, US, UAE and Australia.
