SCTE, CABLELABS PARTNER ON SCTE CABLE-TEC EXPO SYMPOSIUM; SEPT. 22 EVENT TO DRIVE WIRELESS AND DOCSIS 3.1 TECHNICAL EDUCATION
JUNE 5, 2014 (Exton, PA, and Louisville, CO) In-depth education on wireless services and DOCSIS 3.1 two cornerstone services that are defining the future of cable will be on the agenda when the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and CableLabs collaborate to present a Wireless and DOCSIS 3.1 Pre-Conference Symposium on Monday, Sept. 22, in conjunction with SCTE Cable-Tec Expo .
The full-day symposium will bring together subject-matter experts to explain the current status of the two technologies, their potential impact on operators' service bundles and their ability to improve customer experiences. In addition, the symposium will discuss in detail the technical requirements and engineering techniques that are needed to ensure seamless, successful deployments.
Scheduled from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM at Denver's Colorado Convention Center, the symposium will feature four sessions each on wireless and DOCSIS 3.1. Morning sessions will address Carrier Grade Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi Analytics, Cloud and Radio Resource Management; Community Wi-Fi; and Wi-Fi Antenna Design and Surveying. The four afternoon DOCSIS 3.1 sessions will include: Current Status and Schedule; Bandwidth Opportunities; DOCSIS 3.1 Profiles Customizing Bandwidth; and Operational Integration and Proactive Network Maintenance.
Speakers for the symposium will be announced in the near future. More details, including pricing and registration information, are at http://expo.scte.org/workshops-and-events/pre-conference-symposium. The pre-conference symposium is sponsored by Amdocs.
"The flexibility and power of Wi-Fi and DOCSIS 3.1 are enabling cable operators to drive new levels of service innovation," said Ralph Brown, CTO of CableLabs and a member of the Board of Directors of SCTE. "By partnering with SCTE, we can ensure that symposium attendees have access to the most advanced thinking on both technologies, including potential applications and deployment requirements."
"As operators and vendors work together to roll out new services, time-to-market and service quality will be key drivers of success," said Daniel Howard, senior vice president, engineering and CTO of SCTE. "Our work with CableLabs has enabled us to design a curriculum that will enable the industry to expedite availability and maximize market opportunities for services based on both wireless and DOCSIS 3.1 technologies."
