EIDR Registers 2 Millionth Unique ID
Paramount, SONY, NBCU contribute to doubling the size of registered content in less than half the time it took to get to 1 Million IDs Registered

NEW YORK (PRWEB) JANUARY 31, 2019: The Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR), the global source of universal unique identifiers for digital distribution of movies and television assets, has registered its 2 millionth title, assigning the milestone ID to the upcoming Hindi feature film Gully Boy, registered and reviewed by Qube Cinema's Moviebuff.com.
EIDR, a not-for-profit founded by the major motion picture studios in 2010, was created to provide the media and entertainment industry with a reliable way to identify and track content. EIDR's unique identifiers can easily be placed as metadata within audio-visual objects from top level titles and edits - to online streaming clips, encodings and mashups. EIDR's highly curated database of 2 million IDs provides users and the entertainment industry with a fast, accurate, low-cost automated distribution, measurement and data exchange.
Our 2 millionth title is a significant milestone for EIDR and our members, said Will Kreth, Executive Director of EIDR. It took us six years to reach our first million registered titles and in just two years we have doubled that. As our library expands internationally and more titles become registered, the IDs become more ubiquitous, and usage becomes more standardized, driving better overall value to our members and the media and entertainment ecosystem.
EIDR members, which include, among others, Paramount, Sony, NBCU and ITV, continuously register new content with the database, often immediately upon identifying a new project. VICE Media and Variety Business Intelligence are the newest industry members to join EIDR. The registration of Gully Boy highlights the role that global registration of film and television content has played in enabling EIDRs 2 millionth registration milestone.
