The African Attachment Launches 4 Season of Global Short Film Series

Cape Town based production company The African Attachment release their fourth season of Salomon Running TV hoping to surpass the 1.8 million global views they achieved in Season 03. The season will unfold with 8 short films revealing stories and characters from across the globe in some of the most beautiful locations on earth.

Founded in 2006, The African Attachment has forged its place as one of the world's most respected producers of adventure and outdoor film through a combination of director Dean Leslie's elegant cinematic approach and the company's work with the global brand Salomon.

Production on Season 04 saw the team filming a range of characters and stories; in the Giant Redwoods of Northern California, the Scottish Highlands, The Lake District in Wales, The Alps, Berlin, The Rockies in Colorado and at the infamous Dungeons big wave surf spot in South Africa. Characters range from South African Ex-World Champion Surfer Shaun Tomson to 80-year old Bill Dooper (Trail running's Ultimate Fan) to National Geographic Adventurer of the year 2014 Kilian Jornet.

The Season explores some poignant themes as its characters share their innermost worlds through the sport that they love most - running. I have referenced a lot of themes from the writing of Bruce Chatwin. says director Dean Leslie I am interested in who we are, or maybe rather who we were; the nomadic lifestyle, migration, movement, new experience. The idea that human beings were born to wander and roam the earth, and be connected to nature, rather than settle in sedentary societies locked into technological screens

Although the stories within the films may appear esoteric, the actual content is filled with dangerous situations and documents some of the furthest limits the human body can push. The films are testament to the unique ability of the creative team made up of Dean Leslie, Kelvin Trautman, Dale Hunt and Deon Van Zyl.

The nature of adventure sports filmmaking is often defined by working exhausting hours says producer Greg Fell, and responding to unpredictable conditions - from weather, to light, to difficult terrain at high altitude - when working within the natural elements, anything can happen. Luckily we have a tough bunch out there making sure these stories come to life, and that they maintain every bit of authenticity possible In the end I think it makes the viewing experience that much more fulfilling .

The trailer for Salomon Running TV Season 04 will launch on the 20th January 2015 with Episode 1 releasing on Feb 10th followed by monthly releases thereafter.
