ITV is believed to have begun the search for its next chairman, with current incumbent Peter Bazalgette due to step down next year.

According to Sky News, the broadcaster's nominations committee, led by the former Jupiter Fund Management boss Edward Bonham Carter, has appointed Spencer Stuart to oversee the search.

Bazalgette has been chairman of ITV since 2016, when he took over from Archie Norman, and his tenure as chairman is due to come to an end in May 2022. During his time as chairman, Bazalgette oversaw the appointment of Carolyn McCall as ITV's first ever female CEO.

Last autumn, ITV announced plans to refocus the business, establishing a new media and entertainment division with two new business units - Broadcast and On-Demand, stating it intended to complete the process by March 2021.
