Munich/London, November 15, 2013. At SevenVentures Pitch Day (7VPD) yesterday, seven international start-ups competed for media volume worth a total of 7 million at the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. The company GetYourGuide won the competition. The team of founder Johannes Reck was able to win over the jury of experts with its smart business idea. As the winner, the Zurich-based start-up won prize money amounting to 4 million in the form of advertising that it can now use to advertise its product on the stations of the television group. Second place goes to Leopold von Bismarck from Tado; He can look forward to prize money amounting to 2 million. Third place and 1 million goes to Azimo.

Eyeglass24 received the viewers choice award. Over 4,000 users participated in the online voting on Facebook, selecting the team of founder Jascha Chong Luna as the collective favorite of the Internet community. The team will receive a comprehensive package of consulting services valued at 40,000 provided by enable2grow, a Berlin-based company that offers digital business consulting services, and by PR agency piabo. The package includes strategic workshops as well as systematic development and positioning for the winner.

The candidates for 7VPD had the opportunity to promote their company to a broader audience. They competed in a series of brief sessions in which they pitched their product or service. Afterwards, they had to answer critical questions from a six-member jury of leading decision-makers with many years of experience in the industry: Philipp Freise (partner, KKR), Fabrice Grinda (entrepreneur and investor), Philippe Botteri (Accel Partners), Rainer Maerkle (partner, Holtzbrinck Ventures), Christophe Maire (business angel), and Oleg Tscheltzoff (entrepreneur and investor).

This year, more than 300 start-ups from Europe, Asia, and America submitted their applications for 7VPD. Seven finalists were selected in a preliminary round:

Azimo (London), a money transfer start-up; Checkrobin (Vienna), an online logistics platform; eyeglass 24 (Munich), an online store for new eyewear lenses; GetYourGuide (Zurich) and mygola (Bangalore), both travel companies; Outfittery (Berlin), a shopping service; and Tado (Munich), a heating app.
