Outside Broadcast Aistant Unit Supervisor Johannesburg

Manage OB unit resources, facilities and equipment to ensure effective / efficient production of broadcast content, Efficient and effective planning and co-ordination of availability of all resources and facilities for outside production in order to deliver on client needs and requirements

Advise and consult to internal and external clients on alternative ways in which to enhance the efficient and effectiveness of operations

Manage and co-ordinate the setting up of the outside broadcast infrastructure, in order to ensure adherence to technical and safety specifications, maximum utilisation of facilities and resources for the outside broadcast

Liaise with venue representatives and other stakeholders in order to align outside broadcast needs and requirements with venue and other external stakeholder specifications and requirements

Continual close working relationship with production team and producers, in order to ensure optimal delivery on production needs and requirements

Continual quality control and monitoring of facilities throughout production, in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of technical operations and the technical quality of production

Manage all breakdowns and faults efficiently and effectively, ensuring minimum disruption of broadcast and optimal working order for outside productions

Management and control of all outside broadcast facility assets, ensuring accurate timeous registering, safekeeping and maintenance of assets

Manage, direct, guide and motivate crew during outside production

Provide efficient and effective assistance and support for production operations during outside broadcast production

Manage and co-ordinate de-rigging, ensuring the efficient and effective dismantling of the complete infrastructure and its safe return to the base

Provide a formal report on each production, ensuring an accurate reflection of and adherence to schedules, equipment performance, faults, resources and operations, so enabling finance and administration to accurately reconcile and bill for services provided and keep management informed

Perform sound administration of the outside broadcast unit and freelance administration

To take over the responsibilities of the unit supervisor in the absence of the unit supervisor.

Ensure all externally hired equipment is returned safely and within set deadline and maintenance standards

Ensure regular maintenance of outside facilities, in order to preserve equipment and ensure its optimal functionality when required for outside broadcast

Feedback and communication with management regarding outside production

The efficient and effective first line repairs and maintenance of equipment and facilities, ensuring least possible turn around time and minimal production disruption

Continual monitoring and evaluation of new technology, equipment, procedures and trends in outside broadcast, in order to ensure optimal delivery on client needs and requirements

Close working relationship with producer and production crew, in order to ensure optimal delivery on production and client needs and requirements

Liaise with internal and external services providers and vendors, in order to ensure optimal delivery on needs and requirements

On-the-job, informal training of team members and junior staff, in order to ensure a competent staff compliment and exchange and sharing of knowledge and expertise

Technical Competencies

Accurately identify customer/ stakeholder needs and resource requirements

Functional advice/ support to customer/ stakeholder to improve quality of production/ broadcast

Effective troubleshooting to rectify production/ broadcast problems in the shortest possible time frame

Advanced knowledge and understanding of communication technology and relevant hardware/ software to support faultless broadcast

Advanced knowledge and understanding of broadcast standards

Expert knowledge of latest developments in broadcast industry

Minimum Requirements

3 year Technical Diploma.

Physical attributes: excellent hearing and eyesight/ no colour blindness physically able.

Ability to work outside, after hours, adapt to circumstances and works under pressure.

At least 3 years broadcast experience in full performer capacity

Code 10 drivers licence with PDP
